There's also a little buffet on Saturday from 11 to 2 at a good price. The owner is very personable and who's fun to talk to. Don't wait to long to give this place a try the owner is talking retirement so if you're in the area stop by and say hi! ”

“ Well worth our drive from Derby. Great folks, great food! The chicken fried steak was delicious, AND enormous! I took enough home for two more meals! Can't wait to go back for the Saturday lunch buffet. ”

“ The country fried steak was very good. I liked that is was thinner and tender. I have had many customers and this rate as one of the best in recent memory. The salad bar which came with my meal is the best one I ever seen in a small town. The service was great and all employees were friendly. ”

“ Hour long drive down from Wichita and it was worth every minute it took. Got their large chicken fried steaks on their Thursday special and they are HUGE! These aren't minced steaks either. The breading was so well seasoned and the steak actually went well the way to the end. Didn't have large pieces of only breading on the ends like have gotten at some Wichita spots. Staff was super friendly as well. Completely recommend heading in! ”

“ I've asked in Facebook groups a few times about where to find really good onion rings. Today I found a place that was very well worth the drive! It's in a little town northeast of Winfield, called Burden. Ma's Cafe Burden, Ks is a tiny place, much like the town itself. My husband and I arrived about 10 minutes ahead of a downpour. Now... we knew that they had some good looking onion rings. My husband always wants to see pictures of the food before we go, though that did give us issues on another Saturday's outing but that's a story not worth getting into. We asked the waitress about if the onion rings were handmade in-house abd found out that not only were the made there, any item that was fried was hand-breaded in-house! A quick look at the menu and we were ready to order. He got the chicken fried steak with no gravy (I know... I think it's a sacrilege, too.) and instead of the normal sides, he went with double onion rings. I went with the chicken strip basket with onion rings, a side of gravy, and a 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy. I will say this... I didn't like the biscuits and gravy. The sausage in it had a sweet taste that I didn't care for. This was strictly a different taste for me. I can imagine many would enjoy it! My chicken strips were excellent, though. They pretty much fell apart when dipping on the gravy. My husband's chicken fried steak was a bit tough but flavorful. But the star of the show... I could happily make the 45 minute trip out there again just for those onion rings! They were thinly slice with perfect coating. I will say that I heavily salted mine but my POTS was causing me issues today and I needed the salt boost. But OMG. Those things were heaven on a plate. If you offered me those or chocolate, I would take the plate of onion rings in a heartbeat! Husband says he wants to go back next weekend. We're trying the burgers, I think! But those onion rings will definitely be part of the meal!! Note: We often share our meals with each other to try. So on my basket, you'll see part of the CFS and a chicken strip on his plate. :) ”
